Dear Colleagues,

AIDS Alliance for Children Youth & Families is an early signer of the FY 10 Appropriations Community Sign on Letter. We are asking that your organization also sign on to this letter to key House & Senate Appropriations members.

Click here to download a copy of the letter. To sign on, please email your name and organization as you would like it listed to zfellows2@aidsaction.org before COB Friday, June 26. Please keep "ABAC letter sign on" in the subject line.

As a member of the Federal AIDS Policy Partnership (FAPP), a national coalition of organizations committed to federal AIDS policy and the AIDS Budget and Appropriations Committee (ABAC) we participated in drafting this letter on behalf of the HIV/AIDS community – including your organization. Included in the letter on page 3 is language specific to Part D:

"Part D is requesting at least $5 million increase for the existing 91 Part D programs, none of whom have received an increase in funding for the last five years. Part D programs target women, children and youth and are responsible for the remarkable achievement of dramatically reducing HIV transmission from mother to baby in the U.S. They are facing increased demands for their services as a result of more testing and a greater number of families living with fewer resources. "

The letter will be sent to the Hill on Monday, June 29th. This is only a small part of the advocacy work that AIDS Alliance is doing on behalf of women, children, youth and families living with HIV/AIDS. A summary of those activities and how else you can help will be sent by the end of the week.

Thank you for your participation in our community's future.

Carole
