Washington, D.C. -- The Board of Directors of AIDS Alliance for Children, Youth and Families today announced the appointment of Ms. Carole Treston, RN MPH, as Executive Director.
"Carole Treston comes to AIDS Alliance with an extraordinary history of effective leadership and commitment to the HIV community" remarked Alelia Munroe, AIDS Alliance Board President. Treston has served as Director of the Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Group Operations Center; Executive Director of the Children's Hope Foundation in New York, and HIV Program Director at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. "Ms. Treston co-founded one of the first family-centered, comprehensive HIV programs in the U.S. Her proven commitment to addressing the complex health care needs of vulnerable communities complements AIDS Alliance's long legacy of empowering consumers of HIV services to partner with their providers and improve the lives of those heavily impacted by health care disparities," continued Munroe.
"We're thrilled to have Carole lead AIDS Alliance. Her combination of senior management experience in local, national and international HIV/AIDS organizations, combined with her perspective as a clinician and researcher with a background in health policy will enhance our support to our provider membership across the country," added Dorothy Mann, AIDS Alliance Board Vice President and Chair of the Government Affairs Committee.
The vast majority of AIDS Alliance's provider members are grantees of federal funding through Part D of the Ryan White CARE Act, which provides coordinated, family centered care and services for women, children, youth and families living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Through the appointment of Ms. Treston, AIDS Alliance renews its commitment to the principles of family centered care and its support for strong partnerships between providers and consumers of health care.
Carole Treston is a Registered Nurse and received her Masters in Public Health in Health Policy & Management from Columbia University. She has also served on many elected committees, governing boards and review panels for HIV/AIDS organizations and has served as a consultant to Health Resource Service Administration (HRSA) and the National Institutes of Health. Ms. Treston also currently volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in foster care.
