FY10 Budget Projections Flat Fund Ryan White Part D

Washington, D.C.-On May 7, 2009, the Obama Administration released its FY2010 budget. These projections flat fund Part D of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. The $3 million increase to Part D in FY09 funded nearly 30 new programs with no resources invested in existing Part D Programs. Therefore, existing Part D programs have been level funded for 5 years.

“While I am pleased to see the Administration call for increased funding to fight the growing domestic HIV epidemic, I am disappointed that there are no additional funds for Part D programs that effectively prevent mother to child transmission of HIV, that provide clinical and support services to women, children youth and families infected with HIV,” said Alelia Munroe, AIDS Alliance Board President.  “Moreover, successful youth-focused outreach programs that bring at-risk youth into care also suffer.”

AIDS Alliance will bring hundreds of consumers and providers to Capital Hill at its15th Annual Advocacy Day on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. On this critically important day, women, men, children and youth will bring their needs to lawmakers. We urge members of communities across the nation to join us for Advocacy Day 2009 as we urge members of Congress to increase FY10 appropriations for Part D of the Ryan White Program.
